Eurasia Development at the Made in Russia 2022 International Export Forum

Oct 23, 2022
On October 22, as part of the Made in Russia International Export Forum held at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, an expert session titled “Made in Russia to China: Entering the Chinese Market — from FMCG to Innovation, from Education to Entertainment” took place.

The session was moderated by Andrey Prokhorovich, Managing Partner of Eurasia Development Group (ED).
The session featured:
Alexander Zainigabdinov, Partner at China Window;
Alexey Maslov, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University;
Evgeny Kosolapov, Skolkovo Foundation Representative in China;
Olga Kashirina, Creative Producer at Plus Studio, Yandex;
Dmitry Kurbatov, Director of the First Department, RTK Business Unit in China;
Vitaly Mankevich, Chairman of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs;
Maria Rusinova, Commercial Director at PharmOcean Doctor Sea;
Pavel Frolov, Founder of ROBBO.
During the discussion, the experts addressed the growing interest of Russian companies in operating in Asian markets and discussed successful cases of cooperation between Russian companies and Chinese partners.

Andrey Prokhorovich emphasized the importance of creating industry associations that jointly promote their products in China, as well as the role of umbrella brands when entering the Chinese market.

According to the invited experts, a strategy for entering the Chinese market without appropriate product adaptation and significant marketing efforts is often destined to fail.

The Made in Russia brand is currently still being developed in China. Going forward, it should be positioned in line with the specifics of the local market and consumer preferences, while highlighting the strengths of Russian products, such as their purity and environmental credentials, in the eyes of Chinese consumers.
