Andrey Prokhorovich Identified Promising Areas of Russia-China Cooperation in 2026

Q1 2026
Andrey Prokhorovich, CEO of Eurasia Development Group, stated that robot manufacturing, low-carbon fuel production and rare earth metals mining will become promising areas of Russia-China cooperation after 2026.
Andrey Prokhorovich noted:
“Russia will need more industrial robots, and in this area we see significant potential for Russia-China cooperation. This is not only about purchasing robots in China and installing them in Russia, but also about establishing enterprises in Russia with localized robotics production.”

According to the expert, cooperation between Russia and China in new energy also offers broad prospects. In particular, this concerns low-carbon ammonia. Russia is capable of producing it at a relatively low cost but lacks the necessary technologies. China has the required technological base, licenses and equipment for low-carbon ammonia production. If Chinese companies enter the Russian market with their technologies and licenses, they will be able to produce low-carbon ammonia in Russia using natural gas.

He explained:
“In the future, this ammonia could be supplied back to China for use, including by shipping companies. This would reduce emissions and thereby contribute to China achieving its carbon neutrality goals for the 2030–2060 period more quickly. This also makes economic sense for shipping companies, since significant penalties for emissions apply on European routes.”

The CEO of Eurasia Development also believes that cooperation in the mining of rare earth metals will become another promising area.

Russia is among the world’s top five countries in terms of explored reserves of rare earth metals. Significant resources suitable for development are concentrated in its northern and other regions. At the same time, China is the world’s largest country in the processing and production of finished products from rare earth metals.
